Note: The YouTube video and window must be active. If these keys do not work, click on the video to make sure it is selected. Switching between windows, changing a tab in your browser, or doing other actions like making a comment deselects the video.
play and pause in a video
Press the space bar or the 'k' key on your keyboard to play and pause a video.Tip: Hold one of these keys also plays video in slow motion.
Go to the beginning of a video
Pressing the 0 (zero) key on your keyboard will jump to the beginning of a video. The house icon also works to jump to the beginning of a video.Go to the end of a video or go to the next video
Pressing the end key on your keyboard will go to the end of the video. If you play a playlist, it goes to the next video in the playlist.Skip or jump in a video
Fast forward or backIf you want to move forward or backward in five second increments, press the left or right arrows. If you need to skip more than five seconds hold down the Ctrl key and press the arrow for the direction you want to jump in ten seconds.
Skip sections of a video
Pressing the number keys 1-9 jumps to the percentage of the video. In other words, a climb to 10%, two jumps to 20%, three jumps to 30%, etc.
Make full screen
Pressing 'F' key to switch between full screen and normal mode.Tip: Press Esc also exits full screen mode.
Volume adjustment
Pressing the up or down arrow keys increases or decreases the volume of the video. If you continue to hold the down arrow key, it will eventually turn off the sound.Tip: Press "M" on the keyboard as mute and restores the volume.
